The components of touch include speed, agility, anaerobic endurance, aerobic capacity and acceleration. To reveal our teams strengths and weaknesses a number of fitness test where recorded in relation the fitness components required in touch. These include the sprint test, anaerobic glycolytic test, the semo test and the beep test.
The sprint test was firstly recorded to show our teams speed and acceleration ability. From the graph below it can be shown that the acceleration scores (10m/15m) range between the 2-3 second mark and the speed scores (40/55m) range between the 6-9 second mark. This gave the females an average of 2.133 seconds for the acceleration component, and 7.33 seconds for the seed component placing them in the poor category. Also the males received a category ranking of fair. (Refer to the Graphs below).
The semo test was secondly recorded to show the team’s rank in agility. From the graph it can be see that the scores ranged between the 11-15 second mark. This gave the females an average of 12.835 seconds placing them in the good category and the male’s average of 12.195 seconds placing them in the average category.
The beep test was thirdly conducted to show the teams performance in aerobic capacity. From the graph it can be shown that the results are very spread ranging between the 4-10 second mark. This gave the females an average score of 5.68 seconds and placed them in the 'below average' category (2nd last category). The males received an average of 7.3 seconds and placed them in the below average category.
The anaerobic glycolytic test was lastly conducted to show our teams performance in the anaerobic endurance fitness component. From the graph it can be shown that the results spread between the 50-140 second range. This gave the females an average score of 73.2 seconds, placing them in the average category, and also gave the males a score of 51.1 seconds placing them in the good category.
Overall when looking at a team as a whole and the fitness results analysed, it can be seen that our skill related strengths include our agility and anaerobic endurance. These results were established as the team had high scores for the semo and anaerobic glycolytic test. Our weaknesses however include our aerobic capacity as we scored low on the beep test and our acceleration/speed as our sprint test times where slow. Our touch related skills also lack in rucking and communicating, which are vital factors when attacking and working as a team. It would therefore be wise to improve this and focus the 50 min training program around these weaknesses.
