Work Session
This is a major component of the training session as it is where the coach will require the players to perform specific activities that are in relation to touch and to improve their game and skill components. In this case these weaknesses include rucking, communication and the team’s anaerobic capacity.

8 Minute Drill
![Picture](/uploads/6/0/5/7/60576459/2725581.jpg?466)
My 8 minute drill will consist of interval training working
mainly no the lactic acid system. I have chosen to work on the lactic acid
system as this part of the anaerobic system is crucial in touch. The training program most relevant to this is
therefore the interval training as there are rest and work periods. In pairs
one person will start on a marker on the left side and the other person will
stand diagonally on the opposite side on another marker. The drill will start
by them both sprinting up 5m to the first marker then back 5m to the start then
up another 10m to the furthest marker and dumping the ball. They will then side
step to the next marker and run backwards diagonally to the corner marker and finishing
with a 10m sprint up to the finish line. This drill will overall work on the
player’s running back which is valuable to defence in a touch game, side
stepping to dodge and avoid players, dumping the ball in touch and sprinting
which is needed in rucking and when plays are made. These are valuable
components to touch and will allow them to be executed effectively in a game of
touch.
20 Minute Work Period
My 20 minute session will be split into two 10 minute touch
drills. The first drill will be an interval training session. I have chosen to
work on the anaerobic pathway again as it is crucial to the gameplay in touch.
The training system most relevant to this is therefore the interval training
system as described before. The drill can start with any number of players as long
as they are in pairs. In pairs the players with start at the start line and
will sprint up 10m to the first marker and the player on the left will pick up
the ball. They will then jog up another 10m whilst passing the ball three times
between them until the player of the right has the ball and dumps on the
ground. They will then jog another 10m turn around and sprint up another 10m.
The person on the right side will pick up the ball and begin passing the ball 3
times between them whilst jogging up another 10m. The person on the left will
know have the ball and will dump it on the ground once they reach the next 10m
marker. They will then sprint another 10m to the finish line.

The Second 10 minute drill will include a fartlek training session. The drill will begin with two players running at a fast pace up 10 metres to the first marker. In this time they will also pass a football back and forth and dump the ball at the marker. When the players reach the first marker the next two players will also begin to start. They will then turn and sprint 15m diagonally to the second marker. They will then have a recovery jog 10m to the next marker and repeat this for three repetitions until having a break for 1 minute then doing the whole circuit another two times.
